I recently watched another episode of The Grand Tour and what do we think so far? Well, people have given their opinion about the new show hosted by the famous car show trio and quite honestly, it comes with some mixed feeling. Obviously, we love the three men no matter what, but what about the show?
Let me start from 2002, and I am talking about Top Gear. I never saw any episode of it then but I later joined in somewhere 2009. I immediately fell in love with the show for the same reasons a lot of you loved the show. This made me curious to find out how it started, so I went to find the very beginning of Jeremy's Top Gear and I realised something. In the beginning it wasn't very exciting and I also realised that back then he was really trying really hard. But as time went on, the show picked up and boy oh boy it became a sensation. Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May literally built the show and they became really good at it; entertaining us and informing us in a very unique way. It was thought provoking as it was exciting. This went on for over 12 years till we heard BBC fired Jeremy Clarkson, the face of Top Gear. That was shocking news and sent the world of motoring into chaos. Richard and May, being loyal to their mate decided to follow him, and we all thought Top Gear was properly over. The patriarchs of this great and widely viewed TV show are being sacked from their baby, that was a worry because not many people thought the show would survive without them. And much to their worry, the first season of the show without them did suffer. It was bad;one memorable moment was when Chris Evans and "Joey" referred to the capacity of their car's engine as its Power. Then the inevitable happened;Chris Evans resigned even before season one ended. It goes to tell us it wasn't a light burden Jeremy and his mates were carrying. Then we heard great news, Jeremy and his mates got another job from Amazon with a budget bigger than BBC's and even looser restrictions to enable them practically live their fantasy, they called it the Grand Tour. We all couldn't wait because with what we have seen them do, we knew the new one was going to be fireworks and we love fireworks. Somewhere in November, they premiered their show. We couldn't help but notice that they were trying to bring some segments of Top Gear into their new show, which was surprising but hey, we love these guys and know they can be full of surprises so we kept watching not even understanding some of the things they were introducing. Then it came to light that even though Jeremy and his mate built Top Gear, the segments are by right for Top Gear not Jeremy and his mates so BBC did not allow them take anything to their new show. Some of you may hate BBC for that act but it is rather shocking don't you think, that these legends should still be thinking and taking things from something they presumably left behind? When in fact, we are looking forward to something new and exciting? Indirectly, Jeremy and his mates are competing with the Top Gear they built (that is themselves). My only hope is that the rest of the Grand Tour would be great and not end in a fiasco like the new Top Gear. Lets also hope it picks up like the way Top Gear did before it got new presenters.
